It seems that in my case it was necessary to untick Enable Enhanced Security to get rid of the error message "Fatal Error: Acrobat failed to connect to DDE Server." Like Can't make any changes via Adobe Reader, either, because it won't open -- even when I try to launch directly from the target EXE file.This is making a LOT of PDFs

I do have Symantec Endpoint Protection, which some other threads on the Interweb have mentioned as a possible problem but did not say what to do to fix it. So the troubleshooting path here seems to be..1. disapears!
